Grace's Background
I am a primary school teacher. I have experience teaching in various primary and secondary level settings. My main interest is in reaching individual learners, providing opportunities for success and achievement, and developing strengths. My focus and studies have been predominantly in special educational needs and understanding learning differences.
The Experience
I completed the Professional Certificate in Creativity and Innovation for Education in 2020. Our learning as a group began with the construction of a safe psychological space. We were collectively venturing into the unknown and what followed was an exhilarating journey. The feeling of freedom as a learner provided us with the space for innovative thinking. Our reflective practice of journal keeping allowed us a space to document the progress we experienced.
The course provided wonderful diversity in the participant cohort. As students we all came from various education settings and that resulted in a medley of skills sets, experiences and strengths.
This course is prolific in nature, dynamic in force and a well from which I draw daily water. We learned to form sustainable communities of practice and draw upon one another’s unique skill sets. We learned to support one another as fellow educators. Personally, I have learned the importance of self-care through the course and the power in creating spaces for collaborative partnerships to flourish.
The beat is very much ongoing; our community of practice continues to go from strength to strength.
